What is a HASP key?

A HASP key is a hardware device that contains the license information for your Canfield software. The key must be present (either locally or on a network) for the software to run. The standard HASP key plugs into a USB port.

Unable to open Mirror or access Database, please see below:
  • When receiving error message “Network License Server not available” click on “Configure” and based on the error under “Status” do the following:
“Connection Forcefully Rejected”:

The “Canfield Imaging Systems Authorization Service” needs to be started/restarted. To do this, go over to the license server (machine holding the Mirror hardware key), click on Start -> Run and type SERVICES.MSC and click “OK”. Right click on the service and select “Start” or “Restart” (only one of them should be enabled). If the “Canfield Imaging Systems Authorization Service” service is not showing up in the list, it needs to be re-installed. To do this, go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs and select Mirror. Click on “Change/Remove”, select “Modify” and then check on “Network License Server” and “Finish” after the installation is complete.

“Connection timed out without establishing a connection”:

Make sure that port “9090” is not being blocked by your firewall on the machine holding the hardware key. To open this port under Windows Firewall, go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Windows Firewall. If the firewall is turned on, make sure “Don’t allow exceptions” is NOT checked and then click on the “Exceptions” tab, click on “Add Port” and type Mirror for “Name”, 9090 for “Port”, select “TCP” and click “OK”. Check with your network administrator if there’s another firewall program that could be blocking port 9090.

“Host not available”:

This means that either the computer name or its IP address under the “Address” field is incorrect or this computer is not communicating with the network properly. To check the proper computer name and/or IP address of the licensing server, go in front of the machine holding the Mirror hardware key, right click on “My Computer” and select “Properties”. You will find the computer name right next to “Full computer name” under the “Computer Name” tab. To check the IP address of the license server click on Start -> Run and type CMD. On the window that opened up, type in IPCONFIG and check the number next to IP address. If the computer name and/or IP address is correct and you’re still getting this error message, then you’re having network issues with this computer. Please contact your network administrator for assistance.

  • “License for the requested product is not activated”:
Check your system’s date and time. Double click on the time at the bottom right of your screen and adjust as needed. If you continue to get this error message after fixing the date and time or after verifying that it is properly set, go to Start – Programs – Canfield Imaging Systems – License Update Utility and email the key serial number to TechSupport@CanfieldSci.com with a brief description of the issue, including the error message and we will provide you with a “Command” to resolve the issue.
  • "application base INIT instant ERR800401F3: invalid class string":
You will receive this error message after installing/upgrading Mirror and not restarting the machine. Restarting the system will resolve this error message.
  • When receiving error message “You are not authorized to access this database, it is owned by another application”:
  1. Restart PC and verify that you’re logging to your domain and not the local computer.
  2. Your Access database may have become corrupted. You might be able to repair it by going into Start - Run and type ODBCAD32. Click on the “System DSN” tab and double click on your database. Select “Repair” and click on “OK” until you get a confirmation that the database was successfully repaired. If you get an error while attempting to repair it, then the database file got corrupted and will need to be restored from backup.
  3. Go into ODBC (Start - Run and type ODBCAD32) and click on “Add”. If you do NOT see the “SQL Native Client” driver, then you need to reinstall this. You can install this from here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/4/4/D/44DBDE61-B385-4FC2-A67D-48053B8F9FAD/sqlncli.msi
  • When receiving error message “You are not authorized to access –name of your database– “
  1. Make sure this computer is joined to the same domain the database resides on. Mirror only uses NT authentication to authorize access to the database, not SQL authentication.
  2. Give rights to access the database to this user account. From the SQL server, open Mirror – Options – Set System Options and put a check next to the user account or group from the active directory list that needs access to the database.
